WHERE:
Kress Building - 1118 Fulton Street (Fulton
Mall between Fresno and Mariposa)
DETAILS: Located
on the Fulton Mall between Fresno and Mariposa streets, the
building was constructed in the pre-World War II era. The original
1920s-style façade had been hidden for roughly 50 years until
owner Bob Gurfield began working to restore the storefront and
refurbish the building.
The Kress Building’s ground
floor retail space has been leased, and the balance of the
building’s commercial space is being marketed.
Gurfield said his goal for the
building is to complete its restoration so that all three floors
of space will reach its full potential to benefit Fresno.
The Redevelopment Agency, through
its Commercial Façade Program, contributed major funds to the
exterior renovation.
